Glass Photo Magnets

Have you discovered the fun of making photo magnets?

Porter's offers three sizes of flat backed glass marbles that are perfect for creating your own magnets. Just attach your favorite photo or scrapbook paper with several coats of Mod Podge.

We have found that on our larger glass marbles you can add the photo to the top or the bottom of the glass. Do several coats of Mod Podge to seal the pictures. When you put the photo on the top of the glass you will need to clean the excess Mod Podge off of the sides.

Another important tip is to copy your photos onto white cardstock. The cardstock absorbs the Mod Podge much better and creates a much clearer image. An original photo takes a long time to dry and is harder to work with.

We suggest you attach your magnets to the back of the glass with either Goop or E-600 glue.

Check out the various sizes of metal we have in stock to help you display your magnets. We have 12"x12", 8"x8", 5"x7", 24" x 24", 4" x 18" and 6 1/2" x 24". We also have lots of wood sizes to choose from to help you make just the right base for your magnetic board. Add a vinyl saying and you have a great way to display notes, reminders, school work, and photos.

Come into the store for a free project sheet!

I noticed in the Idaho Falls store that there are glass magnets with a 3-D butterfly on top. How are those made? I'm not familiar with using Mod Podge, so I'm not sure how the 3-D process works.

These are wonderful and amazingly simple tips to prepare glass photo magnets, Thanks for sharing them. However preparing photo magnets like this lets you waste you one of your photos isn't it? Why not get it printed with some other technique like four color printing. that will allow you to enjoy the fun of having the photo magnets and the photo as well :).
Anyways still these are some great tips people may enjoy using these tips.
