All About Boys

American Crafts has a great new line out called "Junior." The papers and embellishments come in their signature colors and patterns. Choose from double-sided papers, flair, clear stamps, rub-ons, and new Thickers alphabet stickers to match. You're sure to find something you love!

Kathy created these cute layouts with paper and stickers from this collection:

Have you noticed the acrylic and chipboard word albums we have in stock? There are many words and styles to choose from. Kathy made an example of a "Boys" chipboard album shown here:

Scrapbooking Class on Thursday!

We love Thursday nights at Porters! That's when you can forget about your troubles for a few hours while you relax and create to your heart's content!

This Thursday is scrapbooking class in our Rexburg store from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. You can choose to take one of these classes or both.

Stephanie's class is very girly, but you could easily substitute some more masculine paper for a whole different look! Since the title is die cut, you can choose whatever you want to say.

Kathy's Halloween layout is perfect for showcasing all those photos of your cute spooks!

We can't wait to see you there!

New Fancy Pants and a Huge Thank You!

We want to shout out a HUGE "Thank You" to everyone who participated in our 6-Midnight Crop Saturday. I hope everyone will agree that it was lots of fun! We had to keep setting up more tables because scrappers just kept coming. It was great! Thank you for making our crop night a success! Remember, if you need to see photos of the projects to finish yours up, just scroll down a few posts and they should all be there.

Now, onto some new product...

We received a large shipment of Fancy Pants and it's better than ever! There's something for babies, boys, girls, Halloween, and Christmas...from paper to glittered transparencies to ultra cool trims.

Today we will highlight the "Dancing Girl" collection.

Kathy used a transparent frame and matching Fancy Pants buttons to dress up this very girlish layout.

The "Sweet" transparent title is extra fun with its glittery accents. Also notice the cute ball trim.

The large bracket is actually a transparency with the title already printed on it. Fast and easy!

I love how Kathy had her daughter do her own journaling about her favorite things. What a keepsake!

This layout was mounted on chipboard and easily turned into a hanging decoration for her daughter's room. Super cute idea!

Come in to the store to see even more inspiration with all our new products! There's more great things to come!

2nd Saturday Recap

At 2nd Saturday we talked about mistakes and what we have learned from them.

We talked about how most paper has two sides so if we make a mistake we just have to turn it over or change our design a little.

Scrapbooking pages using scraps or papers that we may have cut wrong in the beginning can turn out some adorable pages.

Below is an example of using some of those pictures that are left over and don't necessarily tell a story by themselves. Here 4 photos were cut into a mosaic pattern and make a beautiful display of the landscape along the Oregon Coast. You can also use your nature pictures to cut up and use as the letters in the title on your page.

Next a small scrap of striped paper was used to create the design elements on this layout.

In the following layout, scraps from 3 different layouts were used to create this one page layout.

And again here scraps were used to develop a vertical design element. Using your scraps is economically smart and deepens your creativity.

Below is an example of some of the mistakes we may make in life but are fun to remember. This sweet girl had just cut her hair for the 3rd time by herself. This time was the least drastic of the three, and is now fun to look back at a laugh at some of the solutions that were used to make her hair look as sweet as she was.

Remember the journaling on your pages that focus on mistakes. It's fun to remember and you and others can learn and hopefully not make the same mistakes. HAPPY SCRAPPING!

September 2nd Saturday

Our theme for this month is "It's a Mistake."

Isn't it great that most pieces of paper have two usable sides. And if it doesn't, there is always another design that can be worked out.
James Joyce says, "Mistakes are the portals of discovery."

Come to 2nd Saturday and learn some smart ways to make use of your unused scrap paper.

Another way to think of "It's a Mistake" is to be willing to scrap and document some of the mistakes you have learned from in your life and what would you like others to learn from it.

Hope to see you there on September 12th at 8 am.
