November 2nd Saturday

November 13th is coming fast so be sure to mark it on your calendars for 2nd Saturday in the Rexburg store. It is so fun when you start to feel the Christmas spirit in the air. We will be focusing on a December layout for you calendar shadow box. The element we wish to emphasize is the use of "Quickutz" dies. On this layout the die we used is the "Merry Christmas" set.

Class will start at 8:30 a.m. We look forward to seeing there.

2nd Saturday Recap

October's 2nd Saturday featured "Core Dination" embossing paper. We taught how you can buy pre-embossed paper that only needs sanding to showcase the embossing, or how you can emboss your own choice of colored cardstock with a number of different tools. Some of those tools are embossing punches, embossing folders for the Revolution or Cuttle Bug Die Cut Machines, embossing rollers, or even metal embossing templates using a light box.

Some other ways to expose the core color of the card stock is to tear or use a distressing blade. This paper adds texture and dimension and helps to complete a layout.

October Album of the Month

This Halloween mini album, designed by Maureen Wilson, has a trick that’s a real treat! The special folding technique displays several pages, and then “magically” takes you right back to page one– it’s a never-ending album!

If you think this looks complicated, don't worry! Maureen has created a wonderful how-to video so you can see exactly what to do. Click here to watch!

You can pick up a kit in our Rexburg store.

2nd Saturday

Mark October 9th on your calendar! This is the date for our next 2nd Saturday at the Rexburg store. I am excited to showcase Core'dinations Cardstock and share some of the fun things you can do with it.

Besides their "Essentials" collection (which you can tear, sand and emboss), Core'dinations also features a printed, pre-embossed line that is a lot of fun to work with. Here are just a couple of examples of what can be done with this line.

So we will see you Saturday morning at 8:30 am! Be prepared to share your completed pages from last month to help spark all our creative juices.

Tim Holtz Fragments

Fragments (frâg-m nts) small clear tiles that can be used as adornments by adhering patterned paper to, or inking, and gluing to metal lunchboxes, scrapbook pages or handmade cards

Tim Holtz said: "The look of smooth glossy tile has always caught my eye. Why? Because it’s such a versatile surface to customize. These clear Fragments can be altered by adhering your favorite scrapbook papers or photographs to the back. You can also colorize them with Alcohol Inks, stamp on them or even use rub-ons. Use them to embellish your scrapbooks, your cards, and other art projects. Start seeing your projects through clever Fragments you create…"

Check out this rockin' layout created by Maureen Wilson using Tim Holtz Fragments. They add the perfect dimension as well as a touch of glam to her project.

EK Success Punches

Have you seen the wonderful assortment of punches we have in stock? We recently received some new ones from EK Success. These punches fold flat for easy storage which means no more jumbled messes in your tool drawer!

Maureen designed two layouts using the "Real Estate Sign" punch. This design works perfectly to caption your photos as shown here:

And check out this lovely design! Maureen used the punched shapes to create her entire layout by choosing coordinating papers as accents and setting off her photo by cutting it into a circle. It's simple yet effective.

Here are two of our newest jumbo designs just in time for fall!

A Canvas Idea

Turn blank canvases into beautiful pieces of wall art! Display various sizes on a plate rack (as shown below). Dangle them from a metal rod. Mix and match and stack. The possibilities are endless!

The "Flower Child" collection from Bo Bunny was used to create this vertical display. To make something similar, format a favorite quote on your computer, then print it directly onto patterned paper.

TIP: Paper attaches very easily to canvas with a bit of spray adhesive.

Create dimension by layering chipboard embellishments. Accent them with decorative brads and rhinestones.

Don't be afraid to stack and layer canvases. This may make your project a little top heavy when displaying it, but you can remedy it by tying the back of the canvas to the plate rack.

So choose your favorite paper and embellishments and create one-of-a-kind art for your home!

K&Company Baby Kits

These Jillian Phillips Nursery Rhyme Baby K&Company scrap kits make it easy to create layouts, cards and more with beautifully coordinated designer papers and embellishments. Each kit includes 86 pieces with 12 designer papers, 61 die-cut stickers, 1 dimensional frame and 12 Grand Adhesions.

Although these collections are marketed for baby themed projects, we think they are versatile enough to be used for a variety of creations.

Here's a peek at the baby boy collection:

...and the baby girl collection:

Kathy designed this adorable layout and mini album to celebrate the addition of her new baby boy:

Love, love, love this 3-dimensional photo frame!

Kathy clustered some decorative buttons to visually connect her photos together.

The base for Kathy's mini album is made by Little Yellow Bicycle. She mixed the acrylic and chipboard pages together creating a peek-a-boo effect throughout the book.

Humpty Dumpty has never looked so cute!

Kathy placed felt and alphabet stickers onto the short acrylic pages throughout her book. When the pages lay flat, it gives the illusion that it's all one page.

Isn't this one of the cutest albums you've ever seen?
