2nd Saturday

Our theme this month for 2nd Saturday was using Bling on your pages. We presented a truckload of ideas and it has been requested that we add them to the blog. So here we go!! Just click on a picture if you would like to view a larger version.

This layout has lots of bling. The small letters in the title were traced using a stencil then filled in with green stickles. Stickles come in a bottle with a tiny opening at the top. Squeeze the bottle and it comes out like glue...glue with glitter, that is! Stickles work great! They come in all kinds of colors, the tops don't get plugged, and a small bottle will go a long way. There are also strips of Heidi Swapp rhinestones accenting the large title letters and portions of the photo matte.

Don't be afraid to look outside the scrapbooking department for bling. The centers of these flowers are accented with jewelry findings.

Include bling in a collage of elements.


Accent patterns in your paper such as these diamonds. Adding rhinestones to polka dots look really cute too!

Don't forget about Bazzill Bling Cardstock. It has a shimmery look that may be just what you are looking for. A Heidi Swapp rhinestone frame was used to highlight the photo of these three cute girls.

Add detail to flowers or other designs for an added "wow" factor.

Highlight journaling by using bling as bullet points.

Draw attention to details in your photo by surrounding an element with rhinestones. Also, watch for pre-made embellshments, such as these K&Co. letters, that already come with bling.

Here is another example of using stickles on a layout. All the smaller letters were filled in with them.

Dangle a charm from a pin or ribbon.

Glitter it with a glue pad! Swipe the die cut letters and flowers with a glue pad. Then sprinkle on glitter and tap off the excess. It really makes the title pop!

A line of stickles was drawn around the edges of the vellum butterfly on this layout. A bling brad was substituted for the body.

Many chipboard letter already come glittered. The ones on this page really help emphasize the sugar theme.

Bling can be used for so many things! Hopefully this gives you some ideas to work with.

Now it's time for show and tell. Here are some layouts designed by members of our 2nd Saturday group showcasing ideas from previous months. We have some young scrappers that enjoy coming.

This layout was created by Mason McFadden. I love how he arranged so many photos on a one-page layout. He added hand-drawn details to the cutouts on his page. What a great job, Mason!

This was created by Nitchele Meyers. She used lots of clear embellishments to accent her flowers and the princess. Don't they look great?

Natasha Meyers made this layout. She also used some clear embellishments. Isn't it cute (and so is she!)And last but not least, this was created by design team member Tara Lehmann. I love the simple beauty of this layout. She added just the right amount of detail without detracting from her precious photo. The blue cardstock is actually sticker paper. Notice the decorative edges?
