2nd Saturday Recap

This month for 2nd Saturday we focused on Designing with Punches.

On the above page, I used one of the new Martha Stewart punches. These come in a set that consists of a straight border punch and a corner punch. You can use them separately or punch all around your page. (Notice the photo matte). The corner punch was also used to make the scalloped design around the circle element. The banner was made by using a diamond punch, then cutting the pieces in half.Martha Stewart "Double Loops" Around the Page Punch.

On this page designed by Chris Larsen, she used an assortment of flower punches to create the border along the bottom.

An EK Success punch was used to make the scalloped border on this layout. This punch also has an embossing feature.

Two different scalloped circle punches were used to create the layered flowers on the above layout.

On this page designed by Stephanie, she punched the center out of the flowers using a 1/2" circle punch. She also used a square punch to create her own film strip element.

In this layout, a circle punch was used to create tags for the fun title.

Try using shapes, such as triangles, to create unique flower accents.

Like many of your scrapbooking tools, punches can be used in different ways to create one-of-a-kind accents. So play around with them a little and see what creative things you come up with!

Happy Scrapping!!!!

Mini Albums

Mini Albums are a great way to record family memories in a neat little space. You can create one for any special occasion such as a birthday, wedding, back to school, family vacation, and so much more. While those are all great events to remember, it's also fun to document normal everyday activities as well.

Here is an example of an album honoring the daily routine of our family. I think it will be fun to look back in a few years and see how our lives have changed!

Bo Bunny has some cute mini albums that are a great place to start. This one has an acrylic cover and cascading chipboard pages that can be covered with patterned paper or left plain.

The acrylic covers are extra fun to decorate since you can create a peek-a-boo effect by layering items on top of and underneath the acrylic.

Pebbles accents and journaling blocks from My Mind's Eye make a great combination for this simple design. Label the day's highlights with Day-of-the-Week stamps by Jillibean Soup.

Mini albums can be completed in a short amount of time. Why not come in and check out the various mini albums we have in stock. If you don't find one you like, you could also use our die cutting machines and cut your own from acrylic, chipboard, and/or paper. Be creative!

Splash Dance

Last month we showed you one of the newest collections from Imaginisce. Here are some more great ideas by Kathy featuring Splash Dance.

The glitter on these papers creates a feeling of being right in the water! Add some fun sea creatures and ribbon accents and you have a quick and easy outdoor page.

Kathy used a wavy ruler to create a fun border that she accented with die cut scallops and puffy stickers.

Speaking of puffy stickers, remember how they were so popular years and years ago? Well they're back! Kathy's main accent on this layout is a puffy sticker border. How fun is that? Your kids and grandkids with love them!

Summertime Mini Album

Maureen Wilson designed this bright sunny mini album in celebration of all things Summer-y. She started out with a plain wooden album by Kaisercraft that she misted with new Luminarte color by Creative Imaginations. All the fun papers and accents come from the new Sun Kissed collection from Bo Bunny. She created the "Summertime is..." titles on her computer.

You can find everything you need to create an album of your own in our Paper Crafts department!

Adding Dimension to Your Projects

If you've ever wondered how to add some unique texture and dimension to your crafting projects, you'll want to try out these fabulous tips by Tara Lehmann.

Chipboard is a great way to add a little dimension. Tara started out with white glittered letters, but they didn't stand out on her project very well. To solve the problem, she inked over the top of the letters with matching yellow ink.

Here's a close up of the yellow letters. I also wanted to point out the "blissful" rub-on she placed over the various layers of paper as well as her photo. Don't be afraid to overlap elements.

Randomly fold and crease a strip of patterned paper and place it behind your photo as Tara has done here. Use pop dots to hold up some of the creased portions so they won't go flat in your album.

Pop dots or foam squares are a great and inexpensive way to lift elements on your page such as this banner and clothesline cut from a sheet of patterned paper.

This next technique is one that I am so in love with! Tara made a unique border by gathering pink tissue paper and gluing it to the back of a sheet of patterned paper.

She added a finishing touch by outlining her page with glitter glue.

Tara created a tissue paper "cherry" on top of the cupcake to match her border and added rhinestone "sprinkles." Then she fan-folded a piece of brown cardstock to create the base of the cupcake. It almost looks good enough to eat!

So why not grab some tissue paper and scissors and see what fun ideas you come up with!
