Kaisercraft Projects

Have you noticed the fun products we have from Kaisercraft? If you like to create scrapbooking projects besides just layouts, then you will love these items! We carry a large variety of mini albums and theme books, projects to hang on your wall, and storage options. These wooden products are a great way to put your creativity on display!

  1. Start with a wooden base of your choice.
  2. Cover it with patterned papers (Mod Podge works great).
  3. Embellish to your heart's content.
Here are two project ideas to get you started:

This wall hanging measures approximately 12" wide. Don't be afraid to stamp directly onto your background paper just like you would on a layout. You can add stickers, die cuts, flowers, and ribbons...you choose! You can permanently attach your photos or slip them into photo corners so you can change them out as often as you wish.

Maureen Wilson designed this darling "On the Go" mini album about her son.

To create the windows, sandwich a clear sheet of acetate or transparency between the wooden base and the patterned paper. Maureen postitioned a photo of her son so he looks like he's peering through the car window. So cute!

There's plenty of space on these pages to add large titles, journaling, and photos.

Mini albums, such as these, provide a great space to record those precious little moments others might not necessarily hear about.

Notice how Maureen has clipped her journaling into individual words and reattached them to form the sentences. It's a great twist and adds a playfulness to the book.

Maureen chose to replace the silver binding rings with colored ones to match her project. You could also tie it together with ribbons, a ball chain, or strips of torn fabric.

*****

These are just a couple of ideas using Kaisercraft's great "Beyond the Page" product line. We have free idea magazine in the store just for you or you could check out their website for a downloadable version.

BellaBella

My Mind's Eye has done it again with their beautiful BellaBella line! We recently received these two collections and have fallen in love with them! The soft palettes and vintage designs are reminiscent of old-fashioned wallpaper. But don't let these patterns fool you. They work great for all kinds of layouts whether you are scrapbooking about family, kids, events, or heritage.

Each collection comes with nine coordinating patterned papers and a sheet of pretty die cut embellishments. You can buy them separately or together in a kit.

"Bellezo" is a feminine collection with florals and swirls.

This layout was fast and easy to make since the paper already had most of the accents printed on it.

"French Flea Market" is beautiful with its rich reds and soft blues.

To create the heart on this layout, pop the outside edge off of a Heidi Swapp ghost heart and wrap ribbon around it. Then embellish it with ghost wings and a small metal key. Also, don't forget that we have some 12" x 12" dies that cut great backgrounds for your layouts.

Barnwood Frame Projects

We have a large variety of barn wood frames in stock and lots of ideas you can use them for. Here are just a few projects you could create:

First, choose a barn wood frame.

Then choose some fabric, ribbon, and metal embellishments.

This ribbon board was created by covering a piece of foam or mat board with a thin layer of quilt batting and then fabric. Next, place strips of ribbons across the board and attach brads where the rows intersect. Attach some metal stars across the top and metal star hooks along the bottom.

For this project, cover a piece of mat board with fabric and attach the large star hooks with screws . Cut the prongs off two large brads and glue them over the heads of the screws. Finish with a small barn wood frame.

To complete the ensemble, simply tie a torn strip of matching fabric around a piece of cork board and frame it. Quick and easy!

Start Thinking About March 2nd Saturday

The Second Saturday theme for March is going to require some thinking on your part. What is it that brings you comfort in your life? Is it food, a worn pair of jeans, or a good night's sleep? Let's be specific and examine some of the corners in our minds.

When I think of comfort, I immediately think of a child with a soft warm blanket. So we will be working with fabric and the different techniques that can be used with it on your scrapbooking projects.

So don't forget to mark your calendars for March 14th at 8:00 a.m. and start thinking "Comfort!"

Winter Blahs Getting You Down?

Winter is a great time to gather with friends and family to play some great games!
We have a few to recommend:

1) The T-shirt Game ( wear funny matters!) by Buffalo Games
A "judge" plays a t-shirt card, while everyone else throws in their Slogan card.
Whether it's funny, to the point, irrelevant, or irreverent, if the "judge" likes yours, you win!

2) Snorta by Mattel Games
The race is on to get rid of your cards! After each player hides an animal figure in their barn,
everyone starts flipping over their cards and the BARNYARD BEDLAM BEGINS!
Whenever two cards match, players must blurt out the sound of each others hidden animal. Whoever squawks last has to take their opponents cards.
The first player out of cards wins!

(3) For the truly creative and memorable game we suggest Photo*opoly!
You create your own game starring you and yours!
You need 22 photos that you want to feature.
There are pre-printed titles to use for special events or make your own.
Hand letter the rest or use your printer!
The game can be customized for a birthday, anniversary, family reunion, or any event you like!
The game itself has 6 die-cast game pieces as well as "Smile" and "Flash" cards to get the fun going!
Your creativity means the possibilities are endless!
