How do you define love?

For many of us, it can mean love for a child, parent, spouse, grandparent, or other family member. The word "love" can also make us think about comforts in our life we wouldn't want to do without. What about the soft, cushy mattress you get to sleep on every night or the way your automatic dishwasher makes cleaning up the kitchen so easy? Don't forget your pets or your child's favorite toy. What hobbies do you enjoy or how do you and your family love to spend your time?

These are just a few ways we might define love. Here are a few layouts designed by Candi to get your mind going in the direction of "love."

This layout is a great way to scrap your child's school portraits. Candi placed a tag behind each photo that lists some of the things her child loves.

Sometimes we might take each other forgranted. Why not document a page for one specific person telling them how much you love them?

Don't forget the obvious definition of love. Here Candi has scrapped a photo of her wedding day along with the engagement announcement.

Do you have a favorite season? Tell all the reasons why you love it.

Don't forget the pets! They are part of our lives too.

Add a little twist to the "love" theme by telling us about your pet peeves. What do you love to hate? (As a side note, Candi found this silly photo online. Don't be afraid to look for places other than your own photo boxes for ways to put your point across).

Does your family know details about you? Too often we spend all of our time behind the camera and documenting everyone else's lives. Don't forget to scrap about yourself, too.

Valentine's products don't always have to be used specifically for that holiday. Feel free to mix it up a little. Candi made this "Heart Throb" layout about her two sons.

I really like how Candi documented a passage of time here. The first page shows their engagement photos and leads to a family portrait taken years later. She wrote about how their love over time has grown, not only for each other but for each of their children as well.

Tomorrow is the day! Here's a rundown of what's happening at both stores for Second Saturday:

Fabric Department

Aprons are big at Porters. We are having great fun with our new "A is for Apron" pattern book. This book contains so many great apron ideas! You could make one for everyone on your gift list. We like this book so much that we are featuring it in our Second Saturday workshop. From 10:00-12:00 every second saturday in Rexburg, you can bring your machine and sew with us. We will work on blocks or the featured apron. This month we are featuring"The Waldorf". This is a great beginner half apron finished with bias tape. This book features patterns that need to be enlarged. Each month we will enlarge the featured apron and after you buy the book, you can trace our pattern at the workshop. Come join us for a great morning. Each Saturday in the Idaho Falls store they host a quilt mystery. Call early to reserve a kit and join them for some fun surprises!

Idaho Falls Scrapbooking Department:

This year we are putting together a 12 x12 calendar. The initial cost to sign up for this program is $10.00. If you bring back your finished page (that includes photos and journaling), you will get the next month's packet FREE. Then at the end of the year you can cut the pages out of the calander and put in your scrapbook. A calendar is always a great idea for gift giving. So come and join us and learn new layout ideas for scrapbooking!

We are continuing with "Scrapbooking Moments That Matter Most." Come prepared to share your layouts from January's theme of "On Schedule" and receive new ideas on scrapbooking about "Love." We can't wait to see you there!

Come in and check out our newly arrived "Summer Cool" line from Imaginisce. Our Idaho Falls design team used these bright and trendy products to create a mini book that anyone would love! Add some ribbon, colorful flowers and your photos for a great gift idea.

Valentine's Paper Craft Ideas

Are you still looking for a last minute gift idea for Valentine's Day? You could create one of these projects to express your love using our giant Ribbon Circle die cut (shown below).

Create this card by folding it accordion style. Then embellish it by threading ribbon and adding stickers, glitter, and doodling.

There's plenty of room to write a big "I LOVE YOU" on the inside!

This mini album was also created from the giant Ribbon Circle die. Cut as many circles as you want from cardstock, patterned paper, or chipboard. Then cut each one into fourths. Bind it together with the Zutter Bind-It-All machine for a unique gift idea. Here's a peek at some of the inside pages.

Sewing Machine Repair is Back!

By popular demand, we have brought back in-store sewing machine repair to our Rexburg location. Bill Blakely will be coming to Rexburg on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. You can bring your machine in that day to be worked on, then shop until it's finished.
