Make Your Own Acrylic Mini Album

Have you ever seen sheets of clear acrylic in our scrapbooking department and wondered what to do with it? Here is an incredible idea! This darling mini-album was created by Tara Lehmann.

She started by die-cutting puzzle pieces from sheets of acrylic. She used those as the base for her book. Then she used journaling cards and embellishments from the Making Memories Animal Crackers line (it comes in boy and girl themes) to decorate it. The trick to working with acrylic is covering the back of each page in a similar way as the front so the adhesive doesn't show through.

Here is Tara's cover. In addition to the fuzzy stickers, she embellished with a tiny bit of ribbon and a rub-on.

Tara's first page shows a photo of her brand new baby and her birth stats. Notice that she used the number '0' to indicate a newborn.

Skipping a few pages ahead in the book to month #3.

I love how Tara added two pictures for month #5. She cut the photos the exact same size and attached them together with a mini brad. This allows you to slide the first photo to the side to view the one underneath. (See next picture).

Another thing I love about this mini album is that it's attached together in the top corner with a metal book ring. This allows you to continue adding pages as needed. That way, you can create one page a month and have a completed album in a year.

So what are you waiting for? Don't let acrylic intimidate you! Come into Porter's for more ideas. We have a great selection of idea books as well as displays for you to glean inspiration from.

New Webster's Pages in Scrapbooking

We have just received this beautiful new line from Webster's Pages featuring double-sided papers, message centers, calendar pages, and journaling cards. With this collection, you can create beautiful holiday gifts such as shadow boxes, calendars, and brag books.

Choose from our selection of shadow boxes to frame one of your layouts. This paper goes beautifully with heritage photos as well as more modern ones. What a great gift this would make for grandparents!

There are many journaling-type papers in this collection. They are great to use as backgrounds for a layout or a card. You could also use them to record stories in your family history scrapbook.

The calendar pages can be used for just that...creating a calendar. Or you can use them as a background for a layout.

For more inspiration using this product, check out the Webster's Pages Gallery.
